Microtech enjoyed great success with its flagship knife, the Ultratech, for many years. This amazing automatic knife is the company’s original dual action out-the-front knife, and it is regarded by many knife enthusiasts as the definitive knife of its kind. Encouraged by the popularity of the Ultratech, Microtech decided to create smaller versions of the knife, one of which is the UTX-70.
The Microtech UTX-70 measures 3.22 inches when its blade is retracted, and it extends to a length of 5.63 inches when it is open. Its blade is about 2.40 inches long and 0.08 inch thick. It is made of a strong and corrosive resistant stainless steel called S30V. This steel is a preferred material for knife-making because it has very good edge-holding qualities. Edge options that are available with the UTX-70 are standard, fully serrated, and partially serrated. The blade can be finished in satin, bead blast, black, tactical black, and stonewash. The knife’s handle is 0.31 inch thick, and it is made of a lightweight and scratch-resistant material called 6061-T6 aluminum. As a result, the UTX-70 has a weight of only 1 ounce.
Since the UTX-70 was designed after the Ultratech, it has the same internal features that facilitate smooth and reliable firing. One of these features is the “spring resting” mechanism. In most automatic knives, the blade-firing spring will be compressed even when the knife is not open. As such, the spring will wear out faster, and the knife’s firing efficiency will deteriorate after considerable use. The “spring resting” mechanism in the UTX-70 will protect the spring by resting it when the knife is closed, and this helps the fire-and-retract mechanism remain functional for an extended period of time. Firing and retracting of the blade can be easily done by pushing and pulling a trigger on the side of the knife’s handle. The UTX-70 also has a couple of useful accessories to provide secure and convenient portability as well as emergency assistance. These come in the forms of a 303 stainless steel pocket clip and a tungsten tip glass breaker.
If you want to own a Microtech UTX-70 Knife, you can purchase it at one of the reputable Microtech dealers on the Internet. The Blade Shop is a great place to buy Microtech knives, because it offers the most competitive prices as well as a 30-day guarantee for your purchase. You will also get free shipping if your purchase costs more than $125.00.
